Raptors verlieren Saisonauftakt gegen die Comets II mit 20:12

Am vergangenen Sonntag starteten die Seniors der Raptors ihre Saison als Gäste der Allgäu Comets II. In einem durchweg spannenden und aufregenden Spiel konnten die Raptors mit einer 12:06 Führung in die Halbzeit gehen. Leider konnten die Raubsaurier in der zweiten Halbzeit ihr dominierendes Laufspiel nicht Fortsetzen und gaben den Ball durch mehrere Fumbles an den Gegner ab wodurch dieser in Führung gehen konnte. Wenige Minuten vor Spielende bei einem Spielstand von 14:12 für die Gastgeber konnte der Fieldgoalversuche (der 3 Punkte und damit die Führung gebracht hätte) von den Comets geblockt und in die Endzone der Raptors getragen werden.

“This was good football, it felt like a finals game, it came down to the last seconds, loved it.. Its also great to play in Allgäu, they have a wonderful energy, stadium and I suggest that anybody that wants to enjoy some good American football, head down to the Coments and enjoy their environment, my favorite place to play this year. The Comets played us well, smart football and were able to take advantage of the turnovers and get points on the score board, the field goal block was a great defensive effort which sealed it for them. We congratulate them. Its one of those games where statistically we dominate on both sides but we gave them the ball too many times, you can’t fumble six times and give four of them to the opponent and expect to win, the defense did an outstanding job, holding them to only two successful drives. We will use this for the better, get back to priority number one which is “secure the football” and look forward to next week against Starnberg.” -Coach Johnson
